Castille School Counseling Program

Beliefs: As the school counselor at Castille Elementary, I believe:

All students can achieve academic, personal and social success in school.

Educational opportunities and higher-level achievement and access  should be provided for all students

Inclusion, support and high expectations for all students, regardless of their different learning styles, language or development.

The importance of our students' success and achievement in all three areas: academic, career and personal/social.

Providing a safe learning  environment where all students can feel respected and understood and where kindness and compassion are daily taught.

School counselors that utilize consistent  data-driven and informed practice to ensure equity for all students following a multi-tiered system of support.

School counselors that are accountable by following  the American School Counseling Association's ethical guidelines and standards.

Collaboration within the school counseling program and including school and community stakeholders to ensure we are  working to support and meet our goals for student achievement.

The school counseling mission at Castille Elementary is to ensure that all students, in collaboration with a caring staff and in partnership with families, will have access  to a comprehensive, data-driven school counseling program that will address social-emotional, academic and career development needs. As school counselors, we advocate and strive to ensure equity for  all students so they can have the support and skills they need to find success and achieve their full potential in a diverse and changing world.

All students at Castille Elementary School will have access to social-emotional, academic and career supports to help them achieve their fullest educational potential and become respectful, responsible, caring, kind and productive citizens.

End of year School Counseling Report

School counselors evaluate school-wide trends such as attendance, discipline referrals and citizenship marks to guide and inform their counseling program. In addition, they consistently evaluate and monitor student achievement and achievement-related data regarding the interventions they run to provide valuable feedback regarding student programs.  Attached are my previous reports. I value and welcome your feedback and questions.

Meet tHE School Counselor!

Kathie KetchamHello Castille Families! Welcome to the 2019-2020 school year. I hope you had a wonderful and restful summer. I'm looking forward to a great year with you. As your  school counselor, I'm here to work with ALL students and am here to assist you and your child in any way I can. This is my 8th year in school counseling and my 4th year at Castille. As I have in the past, I'll be going into all classrooms and teaching Second Step lessons. These lessons occur monthly in K-5 classrooms. More information can be found on my main page. I'll also be delivering other guidance lesson topics as needed. I'll be running small intervention groups based on various topics, providing individual counseling and outside community resource referrals as needed.  I hope to bring parenting classes that are both relevant and helpful, during this school year. Please contact me with any questions you may have. Let's have a great year!
